Protoss Negator Media The costume of the Negator is styled after that of Praetor Artanis. Background Info The Protoss Negator is an interesting result of the Brood Wars that devastated the Koprulu Sector. These warriors were among the greatest of the High Templar before they broke with the Khala to study the energies of the Void with their dark brethren. After the humiliating defeats of the Protoss at the hands of the Zerg, these warriors then rejected the advanced technology of their people and looked to the ways of their ancient fathers, the invincible warriors of the Aeon of Strife. Thus, they wear no armor into battle, but merely trust in their psionic shields. They carry into battle, not a psionic blade, but a rough-hewn sword of Khaydarin Crystal. Not only are they blademasters, deadly at close range, but they have learned to channel their powers through their blades to hurl bolts of pure energy at their foes. Their greatest feat, however, is their technique of compressing local space-time, allowing them to run much faster while remaining effectively invisible to all but the most sensitive sensor arrays. Unit History Initially, this unit evolved into a ranged attacker with dimensional compression abilities. I was not pleased with it, and protested vehemently several times, but was ignored. As the unit neared completion, I decided to throw in the towel and direct my attention elsewhere. I announced this on the forum with one final criticism: "I envisioned a hotshot unit somewhere between a War3 Mountain King and a Topgun pilot, a diehard warrior who laughs at his templar brethren and tells them exactly where they can put their high technology, and instead studies the ways of the ancient Protoss warriors of the Aeon of Strife. As a weapon he carries, not a psionic blade, but a jagged shard of unbreakable Kaydarin Crystal with a longish leather-wrapped hilt, with which he focuses his powers to hurl bolts of pure psionic energy at his enemies, and to slash anything that comes close enough with powerful one-handed swings. He wields the powers of both the Khala and the Void to generate his own psionic shields and to push himself in and out of phase with space-time. He would look very similar to the Khalai worker pic, except perhaps for a scabard on his back and one of those shoulder pieces Artanis wore in the final battle for Shakuras. *sigh* Apparently, you envisioned a very generic-looking Templar with a prosthetic arm, sort of a half-Dragoon. To my surprise, this apparently pursuaded Morpheus to scrap the old unit and begin work on mine. Thus, the unit you see today was born. - Master_Rahl, TTA Enthusiast |
