Unit Background The Zerg Wurm was the result of a mutation in the original Zerg Larva strain. The Wurm can only attack with its claws while above ground, but its advantage is its ability to move while burrowed underground. The Wurm's movement is similar to a Larva's while on the surface; underground, it uses a writhing motion like a common Terran earthworm. The only means of a ground evacuation from a Wurm attack is to cross a body of water, since Wurms are pretty much incapable of crossing water formations. This is why many more modern Terran bases are completely surrounded by water. Unit Purpose The Wurm was thought up one night during a brainstorming session a month or two ago. Sephiorth_ZERO suddenly came up with the idea for a sort of "reverse-lurker"; it can move underground but attacks only above ground. The idea was a big hit with the rest of the staff, so we decided to use it. Morpheus is now rendering possible graphics for the Wurm's GRP, all of which look great so far. Editing for this unit is still going on, since, well, it's sorta obvious it's difficult to do. :) We are getting progress little by little, and I expect the Wurm to be done sooner than you probably would think. This unit will definately be the best-done Zerg unit by us once completed. It will serve as a true stealth assassin for the Zerg, a real example of Kerrigan's newfound influence over the swarm. - Jaded_Mule, TTA Coordinator |
